The Department of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with the District Administration, established a Sub Regional Science Centre in Ballari on March 5, 2014. The center’s primary goal is to encourage science and technology education, particularly among students in rural areas.
It is located near the District Stadium in the Nallacheruvu area of Ballari. The Govt of Karnataka allocates an annual grant for the maintenance and educational activities of the Centre through the Karnataka State Science and Technology Promotion Society (KSTePS), Bengaluru.
Planetarium
A highlight of the center is its planetarium, which features an 8-meter dome equipped with modern technology. This facility allows visitors to experience immersive astronomical shows, providing insights into celestial events and the universe.
