The institute started under the chairmanship of CNR Rao, who was Bharat Ratna. VGST’s primary objective is to promote and advance science and technology education and research within the state.

The deadline for proposal submissions was extended to 21 June 2024, reflecting VGST’s dedication to inclusivity and broad participation from the scientific community.

The Award for Research Publication/ARP is one such initiative that honors faculty members for their significant scientific research. For instance, Dr. Shobith Rangappa from Adichunchanagiri University was a recipient of this prestigious award, highlighting VGST’s role in encouraging high-quality research outputs.

Yenepoya Institute of Technology received a research grant of Rs 30 lakhs, underscoring VGST’s commitment to supporting technological advancements and research initiatives. Similarly, the Mechanical Engg department at New Horizon College of Engg was awarded Rs 40 lakhs under the CESEM scheme, aimed at enhancing research and development infrastructure.
Alliance University also benefited from VGST’s support, with research grants recommended for proposals submitted by the institution. These grants are pivotal in fostering a robust research environment, enabling institutions to undertake innovative projects that contribute to the state’s scientific and technological progress.
